Apply For Membership
Thanks for taking an interest in our makerspace! This page describes the application process to become a member at Cola Makerspace.
The Application
At the bottom of this page, there is an application. Please read through these instructions before filling it out.
- Go to the Policies Page and read through all policies on that page, especially the Code of Conduct.
- Feel free to reach out and ask us questions about that, or bring questions to the meeting.
- Sign the liability waiver and onboarding documents
- Open the DocuSign Link
- Sign the documents with an email that you use regularly
- Download the PDF for your later use before closing the page. You should also be sent an email with a copy of the PDF. You will need this PDF later. The makerspace also retains a copy of this form in case you lose it.
- Fill out the email input below which will register you in our website
- You should be taken to your full profile page. You'll need to fill out some information, including:
- Required fields in form: Name, Address, Phone Number, your signed liability waiver from the Sign Up step, an emergency contact and date joined
- You may also choose to provide a Preferred Name, Pronouns, and Bio, all of which show up in the member directory
- Once you click the next button, you'll have a chance to review your application before submitting it.
- Submit your Application.
- Once you have submitted your application, you should see a few emails in your inbox:

- Login information for the website; this includes a temporary password
- An informational email stating that you have applied for membership
- While not required, we recommend setting a permanent password on your profile by clicking the Change Password button.
After submitting the application
- While you wait for your application to be approved, please have a look at the Member's Area (only visible to members), and read through the New Members Page (should be visible to applicants)
- Show up to one of our Public Meetings that occur every other Wednesday (see the Events Page) .
- You'll get to tour the makerspace and meet some other members
- Please come with questions, and tell us about the projects you've worked on and are interesting in working on here!
Please keep in mind that this is an application for membership, which we don't always offer to everyone. While we strive to be an open accessible makerspace, we do sometimes decline memberships to prospective members for various reasons.
Post-Approval Steps
At this point, your membership will be approved and a pro-rated invoice will be generated based on the acceptance date. You'll need to log back into your application (unless you stayed logged in from last time) and pay the invoice.

Go back into the profile and pay the invoice
- This will opt you into recurring payments once a month on the first day of the month (reminder emails are sent out beforehand)
- If you're at the makerspace, then you'll have a membership card provisioned for you. Otherwise, you'll need to reach out to the makerspace secretary to schedule a time to receive your new membership card.
- Go make something! Take a class (see the Events Page; members get advance notice of upcoming classes and a discount)
